Unitarian Universalists will be traveling to Washington, D.C. from all over the country and marching together in the Faith contingent of the People's Climate Movement: March for Climate, Jobs, and Justice. Check out all of these opportunities to connect and take action together:
Saturday, April 29th
9:00 - 11:00 am Cafe Fifty-Nine, 409 3rd St. SW 20024 (@ Metro Station - Fed Center SW)
Meet with other Unitarian Universalists at Cafe Fifty-Nine, which is very close to the gathering and starting point for the climate march. The cafe is graciously opening just for us, giving us a great pre-March meet up spot with coffee, pastries and a breakfast bar available for purchase, and restrooms. The cafe capacity is small, so anticipate that we will also be gathering outside of the cafe on the sidewalk. This is an opportunity to meet and greet, organize, take pictures, have some food and hydration, sing, and generally prepare for the Climate March.
11:00 - 4:00 pm March for Climate, Jobs, and Justice
Unitarian Universalists will be marching together as part of a larger faith contingent, gathering at 11 am for musical offerings and reflections. The gathering point will probably be on 3rd Street NW/SW, south of Constitution; exact meet-up details coming soon. Unitarian Universalists are encouraged to wear Standing on the Side of Love shirts &/or other Unitarian Universalist attire and to bring signs, flags, banners, etc. (see below for more info about art preparation!).
4:00 - 8:00 pm After Party at All Souls Church Unitarian - 1500 Harvard St. NW @ 16th St.
Enjoy Live Music, UU Fellowship, Food Truck Dining & Advocacy at the All Souls Church After-Party, 2 miles north of the White House near Columbia Heights Metro. Enjoy the Live Caribbean Music of HIGH ENERGY on the Terrace. Connect and network with UU Climate Justice activists to build our climate movement and network of Climate Action Teams.
