I drive a Prius, bike a lot of places instead of driving, compost, participate in a community garden, recycle, reduce, and reuse products, and try to educate others about composting and gardening.

I was trained by Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project and give presentations about climate change. I’ve applied to be a mentor at their training in Miami later this year. I am active in my congregation on issues related to climate change (for example, we organized a Climate Justice Fair the weekend after Earth Day) and will continue to be active.

Bob Keim and I have given 4 workshops about climate justice and Commit2Respond at cluster and district meetings. We have introduced a brief history of terms (environmental justice, ecological justice, climate justice, interlocking oppressions, and intersectionality), given time for participants to express their emotions around climate change, and introduced the Commit2Respond campaign. We have built an email list so that participants can keep in touch with one another; all attendees live in the same state and have much in common and much to share.

I run an email alerts network on global warming – mostly UUs but not some others. I go to rallies and hearings and lobby, both at the state and national levels. Right now we’re opposing the TPP and Fast Track. I don’t usually make phone calls, but as part of this commitment, I will do that too. I’m also a vegan – best thing anyone can do for the environment and for your own health.
