What's Next For Commit2Respond

What’s next for Commit2Respond is a big chance for collective action: “A Sacred Public Witness,” an event in Portland, Oregon, on June 27 that will be attended by thousands of Unitarian Universalists and others and also accessible to all by live stream.

Together we will witness for the rights of First Nations and American Indian peoples and other front-line communities, and bring our moral voice to the struggle against the fossil fuels industry’s plan to decimate ecosystems and Native sacred lands throughout the Pacific Northwest.

This event is a part of the annual General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association, which will feature climate justice programming throughout.

The hundreds of people who took the Climate Justice Month follow-up survey shared their thoughts on what Commit2Respond should prioritize next—and the top answers were opportunities for collective action, connections to local partnerships and action, and legislative/political advocacy opportunities.

So that is exactly what is in the works. First up is our collective action event in Portland. Leaders within Commit2Respond are also working on opportunities for action and advocacy leading up to the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris. But that's not all: your help is needed to identify actions and events in your area. Share them on the new Events page!
