Announcing Commit2Respond's Newest Leading Organization: UU Young Adults for Climate Justice!

It is a joy to announce that Unitarian Universalist Young Adults for Climate Justice is joining Commit2Respond as a collaborating organization. Leaders of our network have long been collaborating for the campaign through developing programs for action, resources for Climate Justice Month, and more.

UU Young Adults for Climate Justice is an organization sponsored by the UU Ministry for Earth, and was founded in 2012. Our staff Network Coordinator, Aly Tharp, will be representing us on the Commit2Respond Steering Committee.

Three things we are working on as part of Commit2Respond are:

  1. The Grounded and Resilient Organizers Workshop taking place in Chicago, Illinois, August 7-11, 2015. A chance for young adults to deepen relationships and add new tools for social change to their proverbial toolbox. Space is limited; apply ASAP!

  2. The 100 Services for Climate Justice Challenge. We’ve set a goal to have UU young adults involved in the planning and delivery of services about climate justice to congregations of any/all faiths. Will you help us reach our goal? We want to add 93 more services involving young adult voices onto our map. Email .

  3. Workshops and activities at the UUA General Assembly in Portland, Oregon, this June 24-28. If you are attending, please visit UU Young Adults for Climate Justice in the exhibit hall, where we are sharing a booth with the UU Ministry for Earth and UU Environmental Justice Collaboratory. We will also have network members presenting in the following workshops:
    • Commit2Respond: Shift to a Low-Carbon Future, Thursday, June 25, 1:15-2:30 pm
    • Moving From Capitalism Towards an Ecological Economy, Thursday, June 25, 3-4:15 pm
    • Commit2Respond: Growing Young Adult Leadership for Climate Justice, Thursday, June 25, 4:45-6 pm (Pacific Time),  [This will also be livestreamed for Virtual General Assembly participants]
    • United for Climate Justice: A Young Adult Led Intergenerational Worship, Saturday, June 27, 1:15-2:30 pm

We are building a community base and support network for young adult activists across North America. We provide workshops about climate justice for regional and continental young adult gatherings, and value intergenerational and interfaith community-building.

There is great promise in fostering collaborations through Commit2Respond, and we look forward to strengthening bonds and momentum for climate justice across faiths, generations and organizations! You can find out more about UU Young Adults for Climate Justice on our new website.

Thank for all your hard work at all the awesome workshops at GA!!!!
Moving from Capitalism, and the Growing Young Adult Leadership were two of the best workshops at GA.
I learned so much, and will bring back to our congregation in San Diego.
