I will try to encourage our church to benchmark our energy usage — and then work to lower our carbon emissions in the year to come.

Also I attend the Citizens Climate Lobby local chapter once a month and periodically write letters to our congressman and also had a letter to the editor published in our local paper.

Also I am attending United Methodist Care of Creation Conference in Decatur GA this weekend (along with 3 other members of our congregation.)

I am active in three local groups: Transition Durham, Headwaters Chapter of the Sierra Club, and the Earth Justice group at my church. But I am looking for ways to reach more people with environmental education: we need to get beyond “preaching to the converted”. Would love to hear from others in Durham. I will try to do some question and answer talks in Durham Public Schools; am working on getting access there.

I have been active since the 1st Earth Day in 1970 & remain committed to stewardship of this Earth. As a retired env. ed. teacher I believe every day is Earth Day, but April 22 is a special day to reflect, re-energize, re-commit to preserving our planet for the next 7 generations. I lead by my every day actions. I remain politically active to achieve environmental justice for all.

I commit to continuing to do presentations in Northern Michigan about the impacts of climate change and fulfilling our commitments to future generations by becoming educated about how to interact with members of Congress using the power of respectful dialogue with those who have different points of view.

I helped form a local chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby. Along with other UUs, we made a Power Point presentation about CCL and climate change, and we will be speaking about climate change to 2 other churches in our area.

I have a Power Point presentation on Climate change and choosing plant based (vegan friendly, compassionate) meals as an easy, effective and economical action for countering climate change. It has been presented successfully on two occasions to 4 separate high school classes. It is appropriate for young adult and adult audiences.
