We have liftoff! This is to announce that Emerson UU Church of Houston has just launched its citywide (and potentially nationwide) Renewable Congregations Campaign. For details, go to:

        http://www.emersonhouston.org/renewable-congregations-campaign.html

Anything Commit2Respond can do to help us publicize this campaign will be most appreciated. If this campaign goes viral, it could make a real difference as religious congregations of all faiths come to see their energy choices as moral choices.

I'm a 5th year Rabbinic student at Hebrew College in Boston, MA. I'm interested in helping people and communities develop psychospiritual tools to digest and wisely respond to local and global Climate Change crises. I'm also interested in helping to build more resilient and healthy communities, and exploring how to use the Climate Change crises as a catalyst for people working together like never before and transforming society for the better in innumerable ways.

In 2011, several of my colleagues and friends felt that not enough was being done to address this truly existential and moral cause. I brought the idea to my church, Unitarian Universalist of Southern Delaware (UUSD), and 7 months later, Delaware Interfaith Power and Light officially opened our doors. Now, we have 26 member congregations, representing over 10,000 faithful. UUSD, which had just been accredited as a Green Sanctuary is about to move into a new church that will be one of the most energy efficient in the state of Delaware.
